چکیده
Flood-related issues include the impact of groundwater on flood protection measures and other subsurface structures in a protected area. At same time, elements may significantly influence natural regime affect existing during non-flood periods. The paper provides an overview hazardous factors linked to specifies variables for quantification related hazards. Appropriate hydraulic flow models are presented discussed, their suitability modelling individual typical problems hazard is specified. use application CAD GIS tools data pre- post-processing mentioned brief demonstrated examples practical situations.

Mathematical Model of Unsteady Groundwater Flow Through Aquifers and Calibration Via a Non-Linear Optimization Technique
In this study, the general partial differential equation of unsteady groundwater flow through non-homogeneous and anisotropic aquifer was solved by the fully implicit finite difference method with control volume approach. The calibration of permeability and storage coefficients as model parameters was performed by a transformation technique and application of Powell's non-linear optimization me...
متن کاملGroundwater Flow Models
In general, models are conceptual descriptions or approximations that describe physical systems using mathematical equations; they are not exact descriptions of physical systems or processes. By mathematically representing a simplified version of a hydrogeological system, reasonable alternative scenarios can be predicted, tested, and compared. The applicability or usefulness of a model depends ...
متن کاملGroundwater Modelling: from Geology to Hydrogeology
Three-dimensional mapping has extensively developed in the last decade; geological mapping being the area where these developments are more striking. 3D geological mapping has a myriad of applications in the domains of basin analysis, geophysics, geostatistics, geothermal and energy resources, etc. A parallel domain of development has been three-dimensional groundwater modelling: regional groun...
متن کاملFloods on Mars Released from Groundwater by Impact
On Earth, large earthquakes commonly cause saturated soils to liquefy and streamflow to increase. We suggest that meteoritic impacts on Mars may have repeatedly caused similar liquefaction to enable violent eruption of groundwater. The amount of erupted water may be comparable to that required to produce catastrophic floods and to form outflow channels. 2004 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
متن کاملGroundwater recharge simulation using a coupled saturated-unsaturated flow model
Abstract The coupled MODFLOW-HYDRUS software package was used to produce a saturated-unsaturated flow model for a Flood Spreading System (FSS) and its associated aquifer. The study aim to improve simulations of near-surface hydrological processes, including temporal and spatial variation in groundwater recharge rates. The coupled model was built with average RMSE=1.1 and 1.3 for calibration ...
